Goodbye, Election Cell. Will miss you all.

Today is a holiday. Finally done with my internship. This is the day I was waiting for. A month or more maybe. Made alot of friends. Lots of socialising. Lots of happy smiles and hello’s and hi’s and lots of ups and downs as well. Why don’t I feel happy though? Maybe I miss it. Yes, I think I do. I had a really really good time and the last time I had such a good time was maybe back in my A levels days, when I was part of this once popular Sharabeel play ‘Phantom of the Opera’. The endless rehearsals, the dance practices, the late hours and the daily make up routine at the salon. I hated it, literally. And I miss it to the extreme now. Express News reminds me of that time, yes it holds as much importance in my life as that play did. I never knew such positive and nice people actually still exist now, I thought it was the era of back biters and back stabbers but no, I found few of the most beautiful people in my life at the Election Cell. The cafeteria lunches, the not having money and the borrowing, the endless singing and gossip sessions outside at the terrace, the printing of endless papers (WITHOUT ANY REASON?!) and pretending to work! The look busy do nothing attitude, haha the looking left and right to see if the boss is around. The sneaking bottles and chips and cookies upstairs and hiding them in our drawers because we weren’t allowed to eat on our desks. The use of facebook without permission, that was the best part. Taking pictures, going loco, taking pictures everywhere: the rooftop, newsroom, terrace, inside the Election Cell, crazy posing. The air conditioner on our feet; hiding our feet behind the CPU to keep them from getting numb. Zainab, I will miss the stupid gossips and Ashifa I will miss your crazy laughter. Which was more funny than the joke itself, actually. Areeba, Asma, Anood, I will miss you guys giving us instructions, being the senior internees. 🙂 Omair and Uzair, I will miss you guys giving us orders, ‘yeh karo, aisay karo, is folder mein jao, pictures treat karo, mail karo’. Uzair, I will miss the ‘uhhhh, sana. uhhh. koi kaam hai apke pas?’ 🙂 Shahroz. You taught me alot. How to be optimistic when life brings you down. How to find the happiness in the sadness even. You are one of the most optimistic people I have ever met in my life, I thankyou with all my heart for the endless gossips which would make me laugh and the advice and then the observation analysis of everything that I couldn’t understand! How do you do it? I have no clue.
But I guess its true, everything has to come to an end, always. And all good things, and all bad things come to an end. So yes, I would say goodbye to you my friends, I will miss you all alot. Ruqia, thanks for the constant hugs and asking me how I feel whenever I was down or not feeling well. And telling me that ‘Im so nice’. Haha, you’re so cute. always be happy. I pray for you and everyone else. I met some of the best people here. I will never forget you all. Zaheer Saab, Adeel Sir, Adnan Saab (on the last few days), thankyou for all the warmth and kindness and teaching us and helping us out with our futures. With your guidance I’m sure we’ll go a long way. InshaAllah.
Last but not the least, a goodbye to the Election Cell meant a photography session which we all did. Everyone, you will always be close to my heart. I wish you all very very bright futures. Hope you achieve whatever you strive for, Kashif, I hope you become one of the most famous painters in Pakistan. Hifza, Bushra, I hope you guys get the most amazing jobs and earn zillions! Shahroz, never back down! You will succeed and I know that you will go a long, long way with your attitude and your skills. You are a leader; Omair, you too. Best wishes to allllll of you and lots of love too. May God bless you all. See ya’ll pretty soon! It ain’t good bye yet! 🙂
